Product Description

Product Description

Brain sodium diuretic peptide (BNP) is isolated from the pig brain and is identified as the second diuretic peptide following atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP). It consists of 32 amino acid residues having a ring-shaped structure. It has been reported that it is secreted mainly from ventricles, and has a key role in adjusting the body fluid volume and the blood pressure by its vasodilatory effect and diuretic action. Also, it has been reported that BNP increases significantly in the chronic and acute cardiac failure patients depending on the severity of symptoms, while BNP concentration is extremely low in plasma in the healthy individuals. Therefore, it is assumed that the measurement of BNP is significant to know the state of cardiac failure.
