Product Description

Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is an enzyme involved in the metabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins including chylomicron (CM) and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL). Secreted LPL mainly binds to heparan sulfate at the luminal surface of the capillary endothelium and hydrolyzes the triglyceride (TG) in triglyceride-rich lipoprotein into fatty acids and monoglycerides. Therefore, deficiency and reduction in activity of LPL are considered one of the important causes of hypertriglyceridemia.

Principal for Measurement (Latex Immunoturbidimetric assay)
In this kit, LPL proteins in the sample bind to the specific anti-human LPL monoclonal antibody (Mouse), which is coated on latex particles, and cause agglutination. The degree of the turbidity caused by agglutination can be measured optically and is proportional to the amount of LPL in the sample. The change in absorbance caused by this agglutination is measured to determine LPL concentrations.

Absorbance of standard A (0 ng/mL) is less than 0.01.
Difference between Absorbance of standard A (0 ng/mL) and
absorbance of standard E (200 ng/mL) is more than 0.1.
