Product Description

Lipoprotein Lipase (LPL) is an enzyme that hydrolyzes the triglyceride (TG) in 'very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) that is synthesized in liver through endogenic metabolic pathway and chylomicron (CM) that is synthesized in small intestine through metabolic pathway depended on food intake. Abnormal function and deficient of LPL are recognized in type I, type IV and type V hyperlipidemia and decreasing of LPL is considered as one of major risk factors of high triglyceride hyperlipidemia.

Principal for Measurement (Latex Immunoturbidimetric assay)
LPL proteins in the sample bind to the specific anti-human LPL monoclonal antibody, which is coated on latex particles, and cause agglutination. The degree of the turbidity caused by agglutination can be measured optically and is proportional to the amount of LPL in the sample. The change in absorbance caused by this agglutination is measured to determine LPL concentrations.
