New discovery – Hypertriglyceridemia caused by autoantibodies against GPIHBP1

Related Materials

It has been known that hypertriglyceridemia patient who has extremely high concentration of triglyceride in blood (more than 1,000mg/dL) is one out of thousand people and it has been also called as hyperchylomicronemia.

Gene deficient or abnormal function of Lipoprotein lipase (LPL), deficient of ApoC2 that is a key factor of LPL activity and mutation of ApoA5 are considered as main causes of hypertriglyceridemia. However, cases of hypertriglyceridemia with unknown reason also exist.

A new insight that identifies that autoantibodies against GPIHBP1 is involved as a cause of hypertriglyceridemia has been published on The New England Journal of Medicine as follows

Please learn the details of this new discovery from the following original publication.
Autoantibodies against GPIHBP1 as a Cause of Hypertriglyceridemia. Beigneux AP et al. N Engl J Med. 2017 Apr 27;376(17):1647-1658.

The discovery was also press released by Gunma University dated on 6th April 2017. (Japanese only)

We released #27179 Human GPIHBP1 Assay Kit – IBL that can measure GPIHBP1.

About GPIHBP1
GPIHBP1 (Glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchored high density lipoprotein binding protein 1) is an anchor protein that is modified by glycolipid and it has been known that it exists on a capillary endothelial cell membrane and involves with metabolism of triglyceride rich (TG-rich) lipoprotein (triglyceride).

The following assays kit in lipid metabolism are available.

27181 Human ApoB-100 Assay Kit – IBL
27263 Human EL C-Terminal Assay Kit – IBL
27182 Human EL Full-Length Assay Kit – IBL
27180 Human Serum HTGL Assay Kit – IBL
50209 LPL Latex – IBL etc.
