Product Description

GLP-1 (Glucagon Like Peptide-1) is a transcriptional product of proglucagon gene as same as glucagon and one of gastrointestinal hormone which is secreted from L cells of lower section of the small intestine. GLP-1 (7-36) amide and GLP-1 (7-37) are active form and these peptides are dissolved in blood by DDP4 (dipeptidyl peptidase-4) into GLP-1 (9-36) amide and GLP-1 (9-37) and these peptides lose its activities in short period. GLP-1 is known as incretin as same as GIP (Glucose-dependent Insulinotropic Polypeptide), it promotes secretion of insulin from β cells of the isles of Langerhans in the pancreas as glucose dependently. GLP-1 also suppresses secretion of glucagon from α cell of pancreas and concentration of glucose in blood after meal. Drug of type 2 diabetes has been developed by utilizing the functional mechanism of GLP-1 such as blood sugar control through pancreas, delayed gastric emptying and appetite suppression which contributes weight loss as extra-pancreatic effects.　This ELISA kit can quantitatively and specifically measure GLP-1, active form (GLP-1(7-36) amide and GLP-1 (7-37)).

    Q.What is the condition of DPP 4 inhibitor?
  • Answer
    A.Only EDTA-plasma collected using collecting tubes contained DPP4 inhibitor can be used for measuring of GLP-1 active form. BD™ P800 GLP-1, GIP, Glucagon, Ghrelin storing vacuumed collecting tube should be used for collecting blood or the blood should be blocked its activity by DPP4 inhibitor prior it is measured. The amount of DPP4 inhibitor for use is 10μL per 1mL blood or 20μL per 1mL plasma.

    Q.This kit can be used for measurement of diabetes drug (e.g. Liragrutide)?

    A.As this kit was developed to measure native GLP-1 active form (7-36/37), we have not evaluated the kit with any commercially available drugs.
